Witness! Mad Max: Fury Road is coming to White Night

Witness!!

George Miller’s foot-to-the-pedal disasterpalooza Mad Max: Fury Road is going to be a prominent part of this year’s White Night Reimagined program. A special Rockatansky-themed event will run in Melbourne’s Carlton Gardens from August 22 to August 24.

It ain’t just a copy of the film we’re talking about. Some of the actual vehicles used in the production will be incorporated into the event. They will be placed across the Melbourne Museum forecourt.

Remember Immortan Joe’s vehicle the Gigahorse, made of a Cadillac Coupe de Ville stacked on top of another Cadillac Coupe de Ville? That’ll be there.

And the insane Doof Wagon, which the Doof Warrior dangled from, connected by bungee cords? Yep. That’ll be there too. So will Max Rockatansky’s very own Razor Cola Interceptor.

According to the White Night program guide, “these vehicles will be framed against footage from the film, video mapped onto the facade of the Royal Exhibition Building, a bespoke soundtrack, special effects and live performances, to create the Mad Max: Fury Road experience.”

Each Fury Road “presentation” will run for 15 minutes. They’ll kick off every hour on the hour, beginning 7pm and running until 1am.

The dates of the presentations will be: Thursday August 22, Friday August 23 and Saturday August 24.

White Night Reimagined will be spread over three “realms.” They will take place in Birrarung Marr, Treasury Gardens and Carlton Gardens.

Carlton Gardens is where those freaky beat-up vehicles will be. So that’s where we’ll be.
