The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (January 1)

Still one of the most incendiary indie movies of all time, Tobe Hooper’s oppressively nasty original horror film got its Gremlins 2-esque sequel with the director’s weirder, funnier follow-up. Dennis Hopper stars and Leatherface slays, in a broad and surreal sequel that informed audiences it wasn’t contest to rest on its grisly laurels right from the poster art (it showed Leatherface’s Texas clan posing as The Breakfast Club). It takes a while to get going, but ultimately becomes the splattery, silly trip you’d expect of Hooper sending his grossest creations to live under an amusement park.

Every dang Rocky movie (January 6, 13 and 20)

Finally!!! For some unholy reason, Sylvester Stallone’s breakout franchise has been frustratingly difficult for Aussie fans to stream…until now, with every film in the Rocky series soon available on Prime. The OG three, sooomewhat grounded sports dramas will become available on January 6, with the ever-nuttier fourth, fifth and sixth movies ready to watch on the 13th. Even Michael B Jordan’s films as Rocky’s protege Creed JR. arrive on January 20, meaning you can take in the ultimate underdog saga all month long. Just try and get that funky orchestral theme out of your head: it’s impossible.

Shotgun Wedding (January 27)

This action rom-com completely sold itself with the trailer’s scene of Jennifer Coolidge with a machine gun, so hopefully the gags and setpieces live up to that delirious grab at memedom. Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel star as a couple trying to reconcile their boisterous families whilst at their glam destination wedding, only for the whole event to turn very Die Hard when they’re all taken hostage. We’re sure that their cold feet and last-minute regrets will get warmed up by a few explosions, ending the whole thing in a well-earned “I do”.
