NCIS Sydney: Australian trailer and release date

The latest iteration of the seemingly endless NCIS TV franchise is taking place a little closer to home, with the dogged detectives of the titular Naval Criminal Investigative Service teaming up with the Australian Federal Police to tackle international crime in our own spectacular, stunningly overpriced harbour city.

When is NCIS: Sydney being released in Australia?

NCIS: Sydney arrives in Australia when it starts streaming exclusively on Paramount Plus from November 10.

What is NCIS: Sydney about?

Fighting crime and low key being AUKUS propaganda—sure, the trailer never explicitly says “we need to check Chinese interests in the Pacific”, but it’s not hard to read between the lines. I mean, check out the official synopsis: “With rising international tensions in the Indo-Pacific regions, the eclectic team of US NCIS Agents and Australian Federal Police (AFP) have been grafted into a multi-national taskforce designed to keep naval crimes in check in “the most contested patch of ocean on the planet.”

The cast of NCIS: Sydney

Olivia Swann is NCIS Special Agent-in-Charge Michelle Mackey, Todd Lasance is Australian Federal Police Second-in-Command Jim “JD” Dempsey, Australian Federal Police, with Sean Sagar, Tuuli Narkle, Mavournee Hazel, and William McInnes in support. And probably every notable character actor in the country turning up as a villain or a victim at some point.

Why we’re excited about NCIS: Sydney

We’re suckers for well-crafted crime procedurals—sometimes you just want an hour of solid drama with a bit of action and the odd twist or two to tide you over before bedtime. That aside, watching Americans grapple with Australian cultural mores is never not funny. Also, apparently a snake gets used as an instrument of murder at some point, and we really like reinforcing the American notion that Australia is the most dangerous country on the planet.
