If you’re a big fan of pugnacious echidnas with anger issues, then A) that’s pretty niche, and B) we have some good news for you. Fan fave Sonic the Hedgehog supporting character Knuckles the Echidna is getting his own computer-animated TV series.
When is Knuckles season one being released in Australia?
All six episodes of Knuckles season one will be streaming in Australia exclusively on Paramount+ from April 27, 2024.

What is Knuckles season one about?
Knuckles the Echidna, having won legions of fans being Sonic’s frenemy in the sprawling video game franchise, made his big screen debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. There he teamed up with the spiky speedster to defeat the evil Doctor Robotnik after having spent most of the proceeding film wanting to kill Sonic—which is par for the course for Knuckles, really.
When the credits rolled, Knuckles had moved in with Sonic, Tails, and the human Wachowski family, a redemption arc so quick you normally only see it in a Fast and Furious flick. In his solo series, Knuckles is apparently training deputy sheriff Wade Whipple in the ways of the Echidna Warrior, for reasons that have yet to be explicated.
The cast of Knuckles season one
Idris Elba returns to voice Knuckles; Adam Pally is Wade Whipple; Cary Elwes is “Pistol” Pete Whipple, Edi Patterson is Wanda Whipple, Wade’s sister; Stockard Channing is Wendy Whipple, Wade’s mother; and Julian Barratt is Jack Sinclair. On the villainous side we have Rory McCann as mystery bad guy “The Buyer”, who wants to steal Knuckles’ power for himself; with Scott Mescudi and Ellie Taylor as his hench-people, Agent Mason and Agent Willoughby.
Plus Ben Schwartz and Colleen O’Shaughnessy are making guest appearances as Sonic and Tails, respectively, along with Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski. We’re also getting Christopher Lloyd as Echidna elder Pachacamac, plus Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel in undisclosed roles.

Why we’re excited about Knuckles season one
It looks fun! It doesn’t seem to be taking itself too seriously, but at the same time nobody seems to be phoning it in. We’re getting a little Spy Kids vibe off this one.
