An Adelaide pop-up event will screen highly anticipated Australian films Top End Wedding and Animals

The highly anticipated Australian films Top End Wedding and Animals will have their local premieres at an Adelaide Film Festival pop up event next month, running from April 5 to April 7.

Directed by Wayne Blair, who helmed the historical drama The Sapphires and the TV remake of Dirty Dancing, Top End Wedding is a feel-good film about a soon-to-be-married bride (Miranda Tapsell) who has 10 days to find her mother before her wedding.

Animals is the latest film from director Sophie Hyde, who made the gender-transitioning drama 52 Tuesdays.

The Guardian called Animals “a wonderful, utterly lived-in film about two women at a crossroads…Echoes of Trainwreck, Bridesmaids and Fleabag only serve to remind us of how unconventional and defiant Animals is in comparison.”

Both Animals and Top End Wedding played at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will arrive in cinemas later this year.

Tickets to the event in April are now on sale at the Adelaide Film Festival website.
