Watch all extended Lord of the Rings films in one movie marathon to rule them all

Lord of the Rings fans, prepare to get your butts flattened.

Palace Cinemas have announced it will screen every extended edition cut of the Lord of the Rings trilogy back-to-back in a single day, at various locations across the country on Sunday September 8.

You know what to expect: lots of filthy Hobbitses and a bloody long walk across Middle Earth.

The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King will be screened with a combined extra 169 minutes of additional footage.

So the total amounts to more than 12 hours of pprrreccccioooussss cinema. The screenings will be held at Palace Cinema Paradiso (WA), Palace Electric (ACT), Palace James Street (QLD), Chauvel Cinema (NSW), Palace Byron (NSW) and Palace Balwyn (VIC).

The marathon will kick off at 10am and last until the end credits of The Return of the King, which will be roughly an eternity later.
