How to watch FUBAR in Australia

Arnie’s back, baby! Or perhaps here for the first time, as the Austrian Oak is making his streaming debut with a brand-new action-comedy series. This new show FUBAR is now streaming on Netflix.

To the untrained eye, FUBAR sounds a lot like a follow up to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ’94 classic True Lies. But a) we got a True Lies series recently, b) it was dreadful, and so it was c) cancelled after one season. Also, it had a distinct lack of Arnie. FUBAR is already ahead on points by having the big guy star as Luke Brunner, a grizzled veteran CIA agent who learns to his horror that his beloved daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro – Top Gun: Maverick) is not the violin-playing, straight-A student he thought she was, but rather a ruthless undercover operative, just like him.

To be fair, if he’d spent more time in her life he might not have been surprised, but being a superspy destroyed Luke’s marriage to Tally (Fabiana Udenio) and estranged his kid. In fact he discovers the truth when they cross paths on the job. A lot of family therapy waits in their future, but in the meantime a WMD in a suitcase has gone missing, international supervillain Boro (Gabriel Luna) wants to get his hands on it, and they’re all that stands between him and world domination.

We know what to expect from this one: snappy dialogue, hectic action, the odd explosion or two, and a scattering of bespoke Arnie one-liners. The former governor of California used to fang out stuff like this on demand back in his VHS heyday, and generations of fans are champing at the bit to see him strut his now-aged stuff once again. And hey: if he can pull this off at the impressive age of 75, maybe we’ll finally get that Conan sequel we’ve been waiting almost 40 years for…
