Australian box office report: Bullet Train hits the tracks straight to #1

This is Thor’s stop: Bullet Train takes over Marvel’s Love and Thunder for the #1 position at the box office. The Brad Pitt-starring action flick collected $4 million in its opening week, a respectable earning for a non-franchise movie but a long way off the MCU sequel’s dominant winnings of $40 mil. in four weeks.

In its third week, crime mystery Where The Crawdads Sing stands firm in second place, earning just over $1.5 mil. over the week. And, to use a sentence we might have to just copy-paste from now on, Top Gun: Maverick is still earning big bucks months after its release.

As we predicted last week, Pixar’s Lightyear has vanished from the Top 10, almost undoubtedly due to its release on Disney+. In a similar manner, the third Jurassic World currently has no dominion over the box office Top 10 now that it’s available to rent.

Here are the top 10 films at the Australian box office, August 4—August 10.
