How to watch Prosper in Australia

Ah, religion! Now there’s a nice, safe topic for a new drama, especially at this particular moment in history. Heck, The Righteous Gemstones managed to make a comedy out of similar material, so this new drama might be just the thing for those with a jaded view of organised evangelism…

When is Prosper being released in Australia?

Prosper is hitting streaming in Australia on January 18, exclusively on Stan. Seeing as it’s a Stan Original, that seems fitting.

What is Prosper about?

Our subjects are the wealthy and powerful Quinn family, founders and leaders of the the Sydney-based evangelical megachurch, U Star. But when Founder and Global Pastor Cal Quinn decides he wants a big piece of the American mumbo jumbo market and announces an expansion into the US, it leads to conflict with his wife and Worship Leader, Abi (Rebecca Gibney) and their adult children.

Stan’s calling it “a razor-sharp drama of faith, ambition and divided loyalties, set in the inner sanctum of a family bound together by unfathomable wealth and unchecked power as they build an evangelical megachurch hell-bent on global domination. But behind closed doors, the Quinns are a family protecting shameful secrets – all while preaching a message of faith, love and acceptance to their many thousands of followers. At its heart, Prosper is a study of a damaged family inextricably bound together while tearing themselves apart.”

The cast of Prosper

In addition to Roxburgh and Gibney, we’ve got Ewen Leslie, Ming-Zhu Hii, Jacob Collins-Levy, Jacek Koman, Hayley McCarthy, Jordi Webber, Alex Fitzalan, Andrea Solonge and Alexander D’Souza in the ensemble.

Why we’re excited about Prosper

Look… we’re not gonna say this is about controversial Australian megachurch Hillsong, but the vibe by the sounds of things is certainly Hillsong-adjacent. That is an absolute banger of a cast they’ve pulled together, and the intersection of faith, ambition, and jealousy is always a fun place to mess about in. Think Succession – but with more speaking in tongues – and you’re probably on the right track.
