Legendary ‘Pope of Trash’ John Waters is coming to Australia

For decades John Waters – the film director, screenwriter, author, actor, stand-up comedian, visual artist, raconteur and who knows what else – has amassed a loyal cult following in the US and around the world.

Dubbed ‘The Pope of Trash’, Waters has always danced to his own drum beat. His eclectic range of films include Hairspray, Mondo Trasho, Pink Flamingos, Polyster and Cecil B. Demented.

Later this year Waters will dance all the way to Australia, performing a one man show called Make Trouble in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Hobart throughout October. This show is reportedly full of sharp social commentary and salty reflections drawn from Waters’ long, storied, trash-filled career.

Here’s what Film4 had to say about it: “Waters is growing old in disgraceful fashion. Avid fans will know some of the shtick already but nothing can compare to hearing it from the horse’s filthy mouth.”

In other words, we’re sold. Waters will appear at the below locations.
