Flicks, Liam Maguren
flicksThemes around child neglect wouldn’t make it past Disney’s impenetrable wall of producers, so it’s incredibly refreshing to see a family feature take on a dicey subject with the right level of silliness. It’s the same dark whimsy that made Roald Dahl a household name, that perfect entry point for growing kids to understand and relate to the more unfortunate aspects of life—albeit, with a kind heart and a bunch of belly laughs.

Stuff
pressIt's a tale filled with bright colours, loud noises, black humour and mild disappointment.

pressFortunately, with its candy-coated shell and visual style, “The Willoughbys” never gets too serious or scary.

The Guardian
pressThe Willoughbys might not boast the slick structure or beating heart of a Pixar animation, there's enough offbeat charm to make it an easily digestible watch and for any concerned parents...

Variety
pressWhile "The Willoughbys" might not be very original, its novelty comes through in the delivery and execution, owing to a witty screenplay (by Pearn and Mark Stanleigh) that combines nimble wordplay with highly compressed, well-paced plotting.

Los Angeles Times
pressCruelly neglectful parents and relentless slapstick in a loud, frantic package. Meet "The Willoughbys."
