Has been engineered to deliver the laughs, and the result certainly does, despite coming alarmingly near to botching the procedural elements along the way.

As in any buddy comedy, chemistry is key-and Bullock and McCarthy have it in spades.

The volatile chemistry between Ms. McCarthy and Ms. Bullock is something to behold, and carries "The Heat" through its lazy conception and slapdash execution.

Bullock specializes in awkward and uptight, McCarthy in aggressive and unfiltered. "The Heat" makes the most of those differences.

A crude, low-brow audience-pleaser that will hit the funny bones of both performers' fan bases.

An unevenly matched buddy-cop comedy that amounts to a feature-length showcase for Melissa McCarthy riffing.

Now I'm not much on liberal politics or women's issues but these are topic's this movie embraces and then spits in the face of when a by-the-book FBI special agent meets a low-down, beat-down cop and are forced to work with each other. Sandra Bullock plays the by-the-numbers, straight edged special agent Ashburn and McCarthy's character is the...

This movie works well with superb acting by Sandra Bullock and Melisa McCarthy.who form the two main characters. It was a struggle to see it as a total comedy. But why did they continuously need to use so much course language.I don't know if it was there for a laugh or for effect. It did lower the tone of the movie. The writers should have known it was not...

A few weak laughs in there. The characters are not believable in the slightest. The only reason I'm giving it a rating at all is that sometimes I feel like watching a typical Hollywood comedy such as this - you can relax, you don't have to think and you can be sure no serious issues will be addressed. For that purpose it's an ok film.

Not in the same league as the Bridesmaids, but still fun. McCarthy is as hilarious as ever.

Director Paul Feig must have had a wire to higher power because this film is made in comedy heaven. Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy at their best. Easy to archive for Sandra being one of the best character roll playing actresses on the planet but different for Melissa which for example in "Bridesmaids" and "Identity Thief" more often than not...
