Foxtel will launch a pop-up channel dedicated to Heath Ledger movies
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Heath Ledger’s passing, Foxtel will celebrate the life and career of the great Australian actor by launching a dedicated Heath Ledger pop-up channel. The channel will play back-to-back films starring Ledger for an entire weekend.
Launching 6am January 19, and running until Sunday January 21, the channel will screen 17 of Ledger’s most popular and/or critically acclaimed films.
These films are: Two Hands, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Patriot, A Knight’s Tale, Monster’s Ball, The Four Feathers, Ned Kelly, The Order, Brokeback Mountain, The Brothers Grimm, Lords of Dogtown, Casanova, Candy, I’m Not There, The Dark Knight, The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus and I Am Heath Ledger.
The late actor received a posthumous Academy Award for his performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight. He tragically passed away on January 22, 2008, after consuming a fatal mix of prescription drugs and sleeping pills.
Ledger’s death occurred during the filming of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which contained his final performance. Earlier this year, the estate-approved documentary I Am Heath Ledger premiered, featuring a trove of previously unreleased footage.
The Heath Ledger Pop Up Movie Channel will be available via On Demand or through streaming on Foxtel Now.
