When is the new Frasier series coming out in Australia?

Lovable pompous jerk Dr Frasier Crane has returned to the building! The erstwhile radio talk show host has left Seattle for his old Boston stomping grounds, and a whole new series.

When is Frasier being released in Australia?

Make an appointment with the receptionist for October 6, when Frasier lands on Paramount+ in Australia.

What is Frasier about?

It’s about the fourth series that the character has appeared in, that’s what—counting a one-episode appearance in Wings. But for real, this revival of the arch and witty sitcom sees Kelsey Grammer’s book-smart, heart-dumb psychiatrist trying to forge a meaningful relationship with his now-grown son, Frederick (Jack Cutmore-Scott). Given Freddy has grown up to be fairly normal guy and Frasier is, well, Frasier, that may prove difficult.

The cast of Frasier

Bebe Neuwirth has a recurring role as Frasier’s ex-wife, Lilith, as does Peri Gilpin as his old radio producer, Roz, so that’s us in. We’re also getting British comedy veteran Nicholas Lyndhurst as our tweedy hero’s old college mate; Jess Salgueiro as Eve, Frederick’s housemate; and Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, the head of a university psychology department and possibly Frasier’s new love interest and/or boss (details are sketchy). No word on whether any Cheers alumni are showing up in guest spots, but it’d be a damn shame if they didn’t. In fact, what happened to the bar? Is it still there? Is Sam still bartending? Is Woody still a city councillor? The fans demand answers!

Why we’re excited about Frasier

Look, there are few more iconic and identifiable TV sitcom characters than Frasier Crane, and we’re really looking forward to spending more time with him as he navigates life as an ageing intellectual and aspirant lothario. Plus, putting the erudite shrink back in good ol’ working class Boston should be worth a few laughs. And it’ll be fun to see how veteran liberal Frasier squares his values with amiable everyman Freddy, who may prove to be more naturally progressive than his boomer dad. But above all else, we just really like Kelsey Grammer’s voice. Soothing AF.
