Dendy Newtown will play 80s cult classics every week during spring

These days the 80s are very much in.

Stranger Things helped kick the current 80s infatuation along, full of nostalgic references to things that came out of a period sometimes described as ‘the decade that taste forgot’.

Steven Spielberg’s recent blockbuster Ready Player One was equally 80s-obsessed. The zeitgeist, in other words, is more than prepared to gorge on 80s entertainment.

Dendy Cinemas Newtown definitely got the memo, this week announcing a program of 80s cult classics that will feature a new film playing every week.

The season will start on Monday September 3, kicking off with a screening of Scarface to celebrate the film’s 35th anniversary.

The rest of the line-up includes Gremlins, the Back to the Future trilogy, The Never-Ending Story, Full Metal Jacket and The Thing.

Sessions will play 10am and 6:30pm and tickets are cheap: $8 for Club Dendy members and $10 for everyone else.
