The eye-bulging masterpiece Apocalypse Now Final Cut is on its way to Australia
If you’ve never seen Francis Ford Coppola’s amazing Vietnam War epic Apocalypse Now, you need to watch Apocalypse Now Final Cut.
If you have seen Apocalypse Now, you still need to watch Apocalypse Now Final Cut.
Which basically means everybody who is reading this needs to watch Apocalypse Now Final Cut.
To mark the 40th anniversary of Coppola’s 1979 war classic, the director has crafted a new version of the film that he says “looks better than it has ever looked and sounds better than it has ever sounded”.
Apocalypse Now Final Cut will arrive in Australian cinemas for a special theatrical run on July 25.
Restored from the original negative for the first time ever, over 11 months and 2700 hours were spent on cleaning and restoring the film’s 300,173 frames.
The rejigged compositions reportedly feature highlights “that are up to 40 times brighter, and blacks that are 10 times darker.”
The soundtrack uses the newly developed Sensual Sound, a technology “engineered to output audio below the limits of human hearing.”
We assume that still means we’ll be able to hear it. Because hell, it sounds good. And we’re pretty sure it’ll look even better.
