Brisbane to get a Will Ferrell film festival, because he’s kind of a big deal

Get ready to enter a glass cage of emotion, Brisbane, and be sure to bring your jazz flutes. The first ‘Ferrell Fest’ is about to land in your fair city. Event Cinemas in Brisbane will screen a new Will Ferrell movie every week in August, starting August 10 and concluding August 31.

Kicking the festival off will be the American comedian’s most beloved movie: the 2004 classic Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

In a film that kind of needs no introduction, because it’s kind of a big deal, Ferrell plays the titular character, a moronic newsreader who reacts…not well, to the addition of a female news reading colleague (Christina Applegate).

The other three films to play at Ferrell Fest are Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Blades of Glory and Step Brothers.

In Talladega Nights, Ferrell plays a NASCAR racing national hero whose winning streak is broken up a flamboyant Frenchman, played by Sacha Baron Cohen. In Blades of Glory he plays a crack male figure skater, and in Step Brothers he took a break from sporting comedies to play an overgrown stay-at-home son.

All four films are vintage Will Ferrell. So stay classy San Dieg- er, Brisbane, and enjoy your Ferrell Fest.
