Just the most amazing make up effects I think I'ver seen in a film. I remember being wowed similarly when seeing the "get ready for a surprise!" scene in Total Recall years back and thinking how remarkable that was. Pirates 2 goes up another level with its clever installation of CGI. On the whole the film was a lot of fun, kind of exhausting and the plot...

Loved how the sea creatures and their ship all blended together to the point that the creatures almost had to move for you to notice them, the only thing in colour was the main characters. I have never been a true Johnny Depp fan until he played Sparrow and Willie Wonka.. go Johnny.. and of course Orlando.

pressThe problem here is too much money and not enough wit. The script's not so much a story as a tin of sardines, cramming every barnacle-crusted cliché from the pirate lexicon into a single box: giant sea monster, voodoo princess, desert island, angry cannibals, black spot, peg leg, buried treasure, ghost ship... it's exhausting when it should be thrilling...
