Le grand soir

Le grand soir

An anarchic oddball comedy about aging punks in France. Winner of the Special Jury Prize at Cannes 2012, the film is set almost entirely in a corporate shopping precinct and "portrays an absurd world filled with characters desperately trying to find their place". From filmmaking duo Benoît Delépine and Gustave Kervern (Mammuth).

Not (Benoît Poelvoorde) is the "oldest punk in Europe with a dog", hanging out at the local shopping mall and sleeping in dumpsters where his parents run a café specialising in potatoes. His conformist brother, Jean-Pierre (Albert Dupontel) is a local mattress salesman threatened by unemployment. After seeing his brother’s despair, Not feels it’s time to introduce him to the world of the mosh-pit, binge-drinking and showing a finger to the system.

Un Certain Regard - Special Jury Prize winner at Cannes Film Festival 2012.
