EPISODE 1.1
Episode 1
Tony's cantankerous funk -- which he calls a superpower --
... More is taking a toll on his co-workers. Meanwhile, a new writer starts at The Tambury Gazette.LessRicky Gervais' melancholy Netflix comedy. Tony (Gervais) had a solid life, then his wife suddenly dies, and Tony changes. After contemplating taking his own life, he decides instead to live long enough to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he likes from now on.
It wants so badly to be both comedy and drama-to be both funny and touching-that it fails pretty spectacularly at both.
Full reviewMaybe this all sounds a bit petty. It's frustrating, though, because Gervais is better than this.

Full reviewRicky Gervais at his best. You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll make strange noises doing both at the same time while watching this dark comedy.
Full reviewI'm not sure Tony says anything controversial on any of these topics, it's just Gervais with a dead wife so that you might sympathize with him.
Full reviewIn After Life, Saint Ricky essentially debates Bad Ricky. Here's hoping their next collaboration turns out better.
