The story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened.

Inspired by true events, this action drama follows aging cop Mike Chandler (Nicolas Cage, Pig), his partner and their young ride-along as a routine patrol turns into a standoff with heavily-armed bank robbers.

Claire and Jamie cross paths with Stephen Bonnet, a pirate and smuggler who enlists their help. Claire illuminates Jamie on some of America's history, leading him to wonder if it's possible for them to lay down roots.
