One swipe can change your life: how to watch Netflix’s The Tinder Swindler

Try saying ‘The Tinder Swindler‘ five times fast. Netflix’s latest sinister documentary might have a tongue-twister as its title, but that’s nothing compared to the twists and turns in this true story of dating deception.

The feature-length doco is available to stream from February 2. Check out the trailer below to get drawn into the mystery already.

“Immediately we had a bond”, one of many talking heads claims, recalling how she first matched with the man who called himself Simon Leviev on Tinder. He posed as a jet-setting diamond mogul, attracting several women with five star hotels, private jets, and romantic promises.

But, as you may suspect, it’s all downhill from there for the conman’s oblivious victims, who end up banding together across countless international cities to bring him down. “We had one chance to swindle the Tinder Swindler“, another woman explains, hyping up the inevitable shocking truth that we’re all waiting for.

We’ve seen fascinating documentary stories about these kind of conmen before, such as the fictionalised Dirty John series: coming from the makers of internet horror story Don’t F**k With Cats, The Tinder Swindler seems to be another nasty addition to the genre.

The movie might even be a nice Valentine’s Day viewing option, to make both single people and couples feel a bit more grateful for their current romantic situation.
