Here’s where you can watch Morrison and Albanese face off on Election Day

Reality will always be stranger than fiction. There’s no streaming platform or parody series where you can watch an election campaign trail clogged up by COVID absences and more mentions of curry than a nation should have to stomach.

When it comes to 2022’s election day, May 21, you can watch the whole sordid polling ordeal play out on Channel 9 and 9Now, where the channel’s day-long Australia Decides coverage will break down Morrison and Albanese’s skirmish for power.

Beginning at 7am on Weekend Today, 9’s political minds “will offer an analysis of the key election issues”, watching as Australians hit the polling booths from 8am. The decision as to who will govern Australia for the next three years will be unpacked right up to 5pm, when election-evening coverage brings late breaking news of politicains scrambling for the final votes.

The clip below from ABC explains the journey so far, with Morrison and Albanese a third of the way at the time through their desperate campaigns. Verbal gaffs characterised the first weeks of each party’s efforts, with current PM Morrison put under new pressure by news of a Solomon Island security agreement with China.

Once you’ve had your say at the polls, you can watch fellow voters’ opinions spoken aloud on the small screen or streamed via 9Now with state-of-the-art election result systems.

Reporters on the ground in electorates across the nation are combined with a panellist discussion, taking place from 7pm. It includes Julie Bishop, Bill Shorten, Jane Hume, Matt Canavan, and Kate Ellis, speaking to Nine’s political editor Chris Uhlmann.

It’s not as graphic as Wolf Creek or as fun as Mad Max, but man: the 2022 federal election should raise the hairs on the back of Australian necks all the same.
