A low-key comedy/drama set in Wilby, a small island town in Nova Scotia, Canada (a dyslexic sign painter writes 'Wilby Wonderful' instead of 'Wonderful Wilby', hence the title) - with Elliot Page and Sandra Oh.
The lives of several characters intertwine, centered around a local newspaper's threat to publish names in a much-whispered scandal. Control-freak businesswoman Carol (Oh) is working to promote small-town, but everyone seems to be incompetent. She's unaware that her cop husband (Gross) lusts for single mum (Jenkins), whose teen daughter (Page) is being pressured by her boyfriend (Langille) to go all the way. Meanwhile, after his family deserts him, Dan (Allodi) wanders around in a suicidal funk, distracted from killing himself by a friendly builder (Rennie).
Small-town corruption, intolerance and hypocrisy pepper a scenario that seldom surprises, but is painlessly good-natured despite some flat staging and poor soundtracked songs. Package is polished if lacking distinctive style or atmosphere.
