Not a challenge...

This movie is a safe bet for a relaxing and entertaining watch. It's certainly not a challenging movie. It does manage to pull at the heart strings but not so much that you feel overly emotional when you leave the theatre. It inspires without putting you through an assault course. Jaden is an absolute cutie.

Happyness????

"Dont let anyone tell you you cant do something, not even me. If you have a dream you have to protect it" Enduring words spoken by Chris Gardiner (Will Smith) to his son (Will's real life son, Jaden)at a particularly sentimental part of the story. Smith wins our hearts without losing his dignity, as Chris suits up for success by day and fights off despair by night. The role needs gravity, smarts, charm, humor and a soul that's not synthetic. Smith brings it. He's the real deal...

A conventional — and at times exaggerated — meditation on the American work ethic, The Pursuit of Happyness is also a heartwarming tale of paternal affection that avoids liquefying into sentimental soup. Like its protagonist, it somehow manages succeed at just the right moments...
