The Lake House

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock from Speed reunite in this romance. Watch the trailer and you'll hear Ms. Bullock sum up the plot and theme profoundly: "Even though it's impossible, it's amazing." Living in the same house but separated by two years, Dr. Kate Forster (Bullock) and architect Alex Wyler (Reeves) begin a relationship by letter (and by mailbox) that inexplicably traverses time. As their relationship intensifies, the pair have to reconcile their growing feelings against the reality of their lives.

One of the more befuddling movies of recent years. The premise makes no sense, no matter how you turn it around in your head. Uncconvincing, unsatisfying and unmoving...

I can't believe that even the most rabid chick-flick masochists wouldn't gag on it...

What I respond to in the movie is its fundamental romantic impulse...

Where the film falters is in Alejandro Agresti's overly deliberate direction, which threatens to drown the drama in amber sunsets and self-conscious camera framings...

The Lake House is an agreeable enough wallow in amorous angst, pegged on a novel gimmick. Kate (Bullock) and Alex (Reeves) live in the same home, but two years apart, their only means of communication a mystical mailbox...

A sweet story and I was glad to see Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves team up again - chemistry was great. Interesting story but one I never really figured out... was it the dog that brought them together or the house?! Anyhoo, I enjoyed it.
