Sleeping Beauty (1959)
Disney's animated family classic about a malevolent fairy who fatally curses Princess Aurora. Riding his noble steed Samson, it is up to Prince Phillip to break the spell - by planting a kiss on the sleeping princess' lips. He is aided by three good-natured fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather. Based on the story by Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm.
This was the Disney studio's 16th animated feature and was the most expensive cartoon ever produced at the time. Due to disappointing box office returns, producer Walt Disney turned away from fairy tales as source material after Sleeping Beauty.
