Singin' in the Rain
MGM's 1952 classic musical of Hollywood's golden age, with Gene Kelly dancing up a storm. Roger Ebert: "There is no movie musical more fun than Singin' in the Rain, and few that remain as fresh over the years."
Hollywood, the 1920s. Toasts of the Tinsletown are the silent, silver screen romantic duo of Don (Kelly) and Lina (Jean Hagen). But their careers look shaky as the movies transitions from the silent era to talkies. At a test screening of their new film, Lina's shrill voice - like nails on a blackboard - and Don's old-school acting is met with howling laughter. The solution? Turn the film into an all-singing all-dancing musical - with Lina's voice overdubbed by aspiring actress Kathy (Debbie Reynolds). Romantic and starlet rivalry ensues...
Features an array of Arthur Freed / Nacio Herb Brown songs including 'You Were Meant For Me', 'The Broadway Melody' and of course 'Singin' in the Rain'.
