Red Riding Hood
Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia) and Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight) star in this romantic horror, inspired by the famous fairy tale. From the director of Twilight.
Valerie (Seyfried) is a young beauty torn between two men. She's in love with brooding outsider, Peter (Shiloh Fernandez, Skateland), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons, Dorian Gray). Valerie and Peter are planning to run away when Valerie's sister is killed by a werewolf – a beast that prowls the dark forest surrounding the village.
For years, a truce has been maintained with the werewolf with the townsfolk offering it a monthly animal sacrifice. But under a blood red moon, the wolf has upped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Oldman). His arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. The death toll rises and Valerie discovers a connection with the beat, one that draws them close, making her both suspect and bait...

The New York Times
My, what sharp teeth Ms. Hardwicke doesn't have: working from David Leslie Johnson's screenplay she takes on the story's grown-up themes of sex and death directly but weakly.

Has the added inconvenience of being dreadfully serious about a plot so preposterous, it demands to be filmed by Monty Python.

Hollywood Reporter
As it thuds along from one wolf attack to the next, Catherine Hardwicke's first film since taking leave of Bella and her toothy friends adamantly refuses to provide any wit, humor or fun.
