Cult classic from Oscar-winning writer Nancy Dowd (Coming Home) and filmmaker Lou Adler, the only other film he directed after Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke. Diane Lane stars as a young musician who, after her mother's death, starts a rebellious all-women band named The Stains. Also stars Laura Dern in one of her first big roles, who was initially prevented from travelling on location because of her mother until Dern sued for legal emancipation—and won.
