I didnt mind this movie but i did find it took forever to get to the point. I loved the twist at the end. Oh an Tsunami island best idea!

I found this movie a great watch, especially if you're wanting a deeper film, not for a light afternoon comedy. It was gripping and had new ideas brought into the film. Personally I think people are over-thinking this film too much, expecting too much from the director and comparing this film too often to other films like Gravity and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Seen on its own it is a great movie with it's upsides and it's downs just like any other film, but for it's kind, it is right up there in my... More books. Not one for the kids though, they just won't get it.Hide

I really wanted to like this. I really like Nolan as a director, in my opinion he is the Spielberg of his generation, a fantastic film maker who pushes the boundaries of believability in a believable world but this time he pushed it too far (I won't say where as it will spoil it). Great cast, great beginning and middle but Nolan killed it with the twist.

Great movie that is like a combination of "2001:A Space Odyssey", "Knowing", "Gravity" and "Alien". I loved the robots in this film and barely noticed them to begin with, nice and obscured. Unlike the normal noisy crap we all meander to, the volume of this story was very dull and the thoughts were able to run wild while watching this (much like 2001). There's a lot to process in this film & some of it will be over the mindless rabble of the populous I'm sure.
Genre : Sci-fi, drama,... More mystery, action
4/5 : Starts slow and humms along till the end, few parts seem silly and unrealistic, but I liked the direction.Hide

I took my Grandma to see this and she was so unhappy with it because of the plot confusion but i seeme to love it for that reason! I like to not know everythign and then leave wondering about it at the end. This made me want to know more about the science of gravity and time travel.

Matt Damon gives a great persormance and twist to the plot and Matthew McConnaughy is very good also but maybe not too believeable as to be an astronaut? Anne Hathaway gave a good performance and her haircut really... More suited her to be a space traveler.

I didn't think it was too long but my Grandma had to get up twice during the movie and this is another as to why she didn't like it! But I really did like it a lot.Hide

Christopher Nolan knocked this one out of the park even with Anne Hathaway as part of his cast. It is simply worth the effort to get your bum on a seat for this film. It may be slow moving and somewhat self indulgent but it is grand in its scale and serious about its ambitions. I enjoyed.

I just WISH they had decided to make this film for smart people or at least semi-intelligent people. It's like they wanted to appeal to the broadest audience possible and so they had to dumb down an otherwise captivating exploration of space and time.

Entertaining, but too simplistic to revisit.

This is great story telling, with a subject that has not been seen in movies before. There are no spoilers here.It is based on new science that has only been talked about. The movie can mess with the mind and needs time to deliver the concept. The 3 hour running time is justified.
It is a bit cheesy and a little slow at times but then it will open up with some spectacular and awe inspiring moments with music to match.
It is an interesting movie that will leave you thinking long after it ends.

Watch the movie without expectations then tell us what you think.
I give it five stars because I like the elements of the story: the will to survive, the parent's love towards his/her offspring that can transcend anything - including time and space, the passion to save humanity as a higher purpose and life's work and the reality that no matter how long we try to stay alive - death will always be the next part of life.

You know the moment you walk out of the corner shop with a dollar mixture, expectation is high as you open the white paper bag. Inevitably it contains some lollies you love, and the some you'd just wish weren't there. That was Interstellar for me, a real mix of stunningly good film work and effects, marred by some silly plot. That said, I'll continue to go to Nolan's dairy.

A stunning work. Surpassed my expectations. Wonders of the cosmos presented in a scale and vision i hadn't seen before. A roller coaster ride of heart pounding action sequences, human emotion and brain stimulating astrophysics. An A+ neural experience.

The casting of this film helps so much to be immersed in this film. There is a great balance between action and slower points so you don't feel either bored or exhausted. Recommended for the big(gest) screen.

Want a cinematic experience? this in 70mm IMAX.

It's a kind of hybrid of the movie Contact (1997 starring Jodie Foster and Matthew McConaughey) and a smidgeon of 2001

I thought it was outstanding and my wife who generally dislikes sci-fi movies, was enthralled

I was hanging out to see this film since I saw the first teaser online...... I wasn't disappointed either! Really entertaining, the plot twist was a little "out there" but I could accept it since it's something we know so little about. The CGI is amazing, the Space sceens are breath-taking. I feel the need to watch it again so I could catch anything I may have missed. The acting was great too! Go see it.

At nearly 3-hours, it’s a long, but never dull ride on Christopher Nolan’s latest trip. This time he’s channeling ‘Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey’ – but where Kubrick was criticized for not enough sentiment, Nolan’s in danger of adding too much – with the schmaltz factor turned way up to eleven. Still, over-done sentiment and some clunky dialogue aside, this is all about the visuals, and in 70mm IMAX it’s the best looking sci-fi in aeons.

The acting is, as you’d expect... More from a Nolan movie, top notch, with Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine in fine form. It’s hard to sayy too much without spoliers, so suffice it to say that Earth’s screwed, so astronauts McConaughey and Hathaway are sent through a newly discovered wormhole to seek new worlds.

It’s long, sprawling, complex, thoughtful and, best of all, a movie that makes you want to see it again. So I for one was able to forgive the clunks in dialogue and the “love conquers all” schmaltz. It may not be as tight as ‘Inception’ or as dazzling as ‘The Dark Knight’ but as a thoughtful sci-fi on an epic scale with stunning imagery and a scintillating soundtrack? Nolan knocks it out the park.Hide

Christopher Nolan's audacious sci-fi epic, Interstellar is magnificent and thought-provoking. Unmissable in IMAX, shot in 70mm film. Set on a dusty, near-future planet Earth. Earth has run out food and the public schools teach kids that the Apollo moon landings were a hoax to bankrupt the Russians. Cooper, a trained pilot and engineer, lives with his 15-year-old son Tom and 10-year-old daughter Murph. Cooper is convinced by Professor Brand of NASA to travel through a newly discovered wormhole... More and explore worlds in another galaxy that could save humanity from extinction. The haunting space imagery and Hans Zimmer's score are inspired by Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Matthew McConaughey's performance as Cooper is terrific. Mackenzie Foy and Jessica Chastain are excellent as young and adult Murph. Along with other great performances from Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck and Nolan's regular star Michael Caine. The awe-inspiring wormhole and space sequences make Interstellar worth the extra bucks for IMAX tickets. I want to see it again.Hide

Maybe it was just me, because as my mind wandered from boredom to my fellow viewers around the cinema they seemd pretty enthralled,,,,,,,but this overlong, overblown and overhyped "epic" just didn't cut it. Strangly the direction seemed flat (until the 5th dimension) and dialogue was obviously not on Mr Nolan's mind throughout the creation of this movie. The music was almost unbearable (maybe the reverberations of Imax were partly to blame there) and was so loud inparts it obscured what was... More being said by the cast..........On the plus side, there were real ideas in there, and the young girl playing Murph was excellent, as was most of the rest of the cast. A wasted chance? Yes.........but one with heart (a bit too much of one at times). I won't see the sequel :)
PS - The Imax cinema at The Metro Centre in Auckland should be ashamed for the quality of film they provided. I have no idea how IMAX films project onto screen, but the image was constantly "affected" by static debris about a metre long and the soundtrack was out of synch for about 80% of the running time. There must have been something they could do to correct this, but after mentioning it we were told that it was "supposed to be like that".Hide

enough time for two movies I was happy with the end though

This film about space travel, starts with Matthew McCounaghey's character who lives on a farm with his family. He and is daughter approach a place that is run by NASA. Now NASA wanted Matthew's character to go space on a exploration mission with another woman played by Anne Hathaway and a couple of other people. When they do get to space the visual shots of space and the planets are stunning. Christopher Nolan is an ambitious filmmaker and you get all that with visuals in this film. The ideas... More behind space and how far we can go in the universe are explored here very well. The acting is also very good with all the leads including Jessica Chastain. This is a real experience of a film and will have you pondering it for days. This is one of the best films of the year. I highly recommend itHide

Never has a movie been so over-hyped. The science is ludicrous and the story predictable. I was expecting so much more.

worth a second watch..
