Poster for Gandhi

Richard Attenborough's 1982 biopic of Mahatma Gandhi (played by Ben Kingsley) - the lawyer who became the famed leader of the Indian revolts against the British through his philosophy of non-violent protest. More

In a British-occupied India, Gandhi starts his movement towards peaceful enlightenment for his people. Immersing himself in the life of a peasant, he grows a conscious understanding of what it’s like to be Indian, trading his Western clothing for a loincloth. Through years of nonviolent protest, Gandhi seeks a resolve to the meaningless bloodshed between India and Britain, with his country’s independence the ultimate goal.

Winner of eight Academy Awards including Best Picture, Director and Actor (Kingsley).
