Review: Doctor Zhivago
It...Never... Ends ...Looks 10, Talent 3. Stunning to watch, but a pain to listen to. There was a time in the 1950s,60s & 70s when an all star cast would get together and drink and do drugs all day for around four months and then sell it on to audiences as a blockbuster. This probably has more discipline than most, but its still bloated and hungover. The acting is very ripe or completely blank. The script is cribbed from a Political Science 101 under graduate textbook. The music is torture. But the camera is lyrical, the settings marvellous, the lighting ravishing. Look, don't listen. A great reason to bring back silent films.
