Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 3D
In this 3D animated chuckler, based on the children's book by Judy and Ron Barrett, giant pancakes, pasta and hamburgers start to fall from the sky as an ambitious scientist (voiced by Bill Hader) tries to solve world hunger. However, things go terribly wrong when excess amounts of food overload cities and towns.

Reviews & comments

Variety
pressEye-popping and mouth-watering in one, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs spins a 30-page children's book into a 90-minute all-you-can-laugh buffet.

Total Film
pressThe simple plot is as overextended as a compulsive eater’s waistline – but any movie bold enough to warn popcorn-munching filmgoers about obesity has to be applauded. Hell, they might not even finish the bucket…

The New York Times
pressIf the filmmakers opt to make only light statements about junk food, obesity and solid waste, they at least leave the audience sated on a single serving of inspired lunacy.

Roger Ebert
pressThere is clear definition between closer and further elements. I've seen a lot of 3-D recently, and in terms of technical quality, this is the best.

Otago Daily Times
pressAs for the animation, having giant pizzas rolling towards you and spaghetti tornadoes whizz past your face is a surprisingly cool experience.

New Zealand Herald
pressThere are plenty of messages about being yourself, greed, and the rest, but it is all treated lightly. And that's the most refreshing thing about this animation, its originality and determination to be fun.

Los Angeles Times
pressThe movie's humor targets both kids and grown-ups with equal success, but, even with the presence of a mustache-fixated monkey, the main attraction here is the movie's vibrant 3-D animation and its perfect storm of foodie-friendly sight gags.

Hollywood Reporter
pressThe splashy animation is well-executed but again a bit monotonous for a full-length feature.
