The writers behind The Hangover wrote and directed this comedy about a trio of women who - wait for it - go off the rails and do outrageous, hilarious things. As opposed to their other films in which men do the same thing, or college students do, or Jason Bateman outrageously body swaps with Ryan Reynolds. Thankfully, Bad Moms is a more enjoyable watch than its pedigree or predictable subject matter would suggest, generally successful at earning audience laughs as it negotiates the terrain of being an averagely ok comedy you’re likely to have forgotten before leaving the carpark.

What makes "Bad Moms" funny (aside from its lineup of gifted performers) isn't that Amy and her friends go wild; they don't, not even close. It's the women's shared, near-orgiastic pleasure in their freedom and friendship.

Does a couple of things pretty well and most things pretty poorly. It's not really much of a film.

The movie cops out by going soft in the end, but it's still hardcore hilarity for stressed mums looking for a girls' night out.

Hahn ... injects what could have been another insipid studio hack job with a bracing shot of personality.

There are no wheels being reinvented by Bad Moms, which gradually loses the courage of its convictions... Nevertheless, it is twice the movie that lamentable AbFab thing out now turned out to be, and far more funny.
