Scorsese's paranoid, Kafka-esque black comedy following an office worker chump (Griffin Dunne) who - after meeting a girl in Soho, New York for a date - sinks into the worst night of his life. Now a cult classic, the film was a flop on release despite gaining positive reviews and Scorsese picking up Best Director at Cannes. The script was written by 26-year-old Joseph Minion while he was studying film at Columbia University.
