Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini's avant-garde classic, winner of Best Foreign Feature at the 1964 Academy Awards, following a film director (Marcello Mastroianni) both about to make his next picture and on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Using film as a means to explore his own fantastical memories, 8½ is often revered as Fellini's finest work.
"We join him at a health farm where mud baths, holy water, and bathing in springs have been recommended for his possible salvation.
