Oscar favourite The Revenant, in its 2nd week in release, is the film to finally topple The Force Awakens (which to date has a total Australian box office of $86.4 million) / The Hateful Eight‘s 70mm preview run (on just six screens) took in $979K, coming in at number 12 (it opens proper this week) / Jack Black family comedy Goosebumps opens at number 2, while teen sci-fi The 5th Wave and the fantastic The Big Short opened at 4th and 7th spot respectfully / The holiday period’s three big animated releases take the top 10’s bottom 3 spots – Disney’s The Good Dinosaur is the highest grossing of them to date, with a total of $13.2 million (Alvin is at $11.8 million and Peanuts is at $6.6 million).
