10 awesome short films and music videos directed by Nash Edgerton

The profile of Australian filmmaker and stuntman Nash Edgerton has gone up a notch with his soon-to-be-released new film as a director, the dark comedy Gringo. It features a star-studded cast including Charlize Theron, David Oyelowo, Thandie Newton, Amanda Seyfried, Sharlto Copley and Nash’s brother, Joel.

Gringo has been described by critic Richard Roeper as a “down-and-dirty, cheerfully nasty, violent action comedy.” It arrives in Australia on May 31 and is Nash Edgerton’s second feature film as a director, following 2008’s acclaimed Australia neo-noir The Square.

Over the last couple of decades Edgerton has directed many short films, which have competed at prestigious festivals including Cannes Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival and Tropfest. One of his recent shorts, made in 2013, stars (and was co-written by) Taika Waititi. Edgerton has also directed music videos for the likes of Bob Dylan and Brandon Flowers.
