How to watch Population 11 in Australia

Continuing their now-established tradition of quirky Aussie crime fare, comedic or otherwise, Stan brings us an 12-part missing person mystery set in the middle of nowhere, as an unassuming bank teller from Ohio finds himself stuck in a tiny outback town and surrounded by a veritable host of eccentrics. It sounds a bit like Welcome to Woop Woop, but not completely unwatchable.

When is Population 11 being released in Australia?

Population 11 is streaming in Australia exclusively on Stan from March 14.

What is Population 11 about?

Inspired by the same true story that resulted in the documentary Last Stop Larrimah, Population 11 sees American Andy Pruden traverse the globe to make contact with his long-estranged father, Hugo, only for the errant pater to turn up missing, and locals decidedly quiet on the subject. Teaming up with fellow outsider Cassie Crick, who’s in town for her own reasons, he commits to the bit and starts tracking his old man down. But everyone’s a suspect, and knowing who to trust is a major roadblock in the investigatory path.

The cast of Population 11

Superstore‘s Ben Feldman is our hapless protagonist, Andy; Perry Mooney (Troppo) is Cassie; Darren Gilshenan (The Moodys) is the missing Hugo; Katrina Milosevic (Wentworth) is local cop Sergeant Geraldine Walters; and Chai Hansen, Stephen Curry, Tony Briggs, Genevieve Lemon, Rick Donald, Pippa Grandison, Steve Le Marquand, and William Zappa round out the ensemble.

Why we’re excited about Population 11

As we said, Stan has great form for this sort of thing. It seems like only yesterday we were raving about the second season of The Tourist, and the production company behind this one, Jungle, also gave us the excellent No Activity and Mr Inbetween. That fish out of water narrative model is always fun, and that’s an impressive roster of top Aussie talent on the screen. Looks like a winner to us.
