How to watch Irish Wish in Australia

A whole lot of romantic comedy tropes—and Lindsay Lohan—appear to have been chucked into the blender, then layered over a shot of Jameson, for this Ireland-set love story.

When is Irish Wish being released in Australia?

Irish Wish is streaming in Australia exclusively on Netflix from March 15.

What is Irish Wish about?

Directed by Janeen Damian and written by Kirsten Hansen, Irish Wish sees the Mean Girls star as Maddie Kelly, who finds herself in Ireland for a destination wedding. The bad news: it’s not hers. It’s her best friend Emma getting married to Paul, the guy Maddie considers the one who got away, the great lost love of her life, etc and so forth. But when she makes an idle wish that she were the one marrying Paul, rom-com magic does it’s thing and voila! She suddenly is. but the thing is, she’s had a meet-cute with handsome photographer James—what if she’s meant to be with him? That’s at least one complication more than the usual magical romantic comedy.

The cast of Irish Wish

As we noted above, Lindsay Lohan is Maddie, while Outlander‘s Alexander Vlahov is Paul, Star Trek: Picard‘s Ed Speleers is James, and Emily in Paris‘ Elizabeth Tan is Emma. We’re also getting NBA WAG Ayesha Curry as Maddie’s other bestie, Heather, and screen legend Jane Seymour as Maddie’s mother, Rosemary.

Why we’re excited about Irish Wish

It really looks like it could go either way, right? Either it’s going to be a sunny, charming, romantic comedy, or a complete shambles of twee stereotypes ala Wild Mountain Thyme—remember Christopher Walken’s accent in that one? Either way, we’ll have fun with it. Plus, it’s nice to see Lohan on the screen again. We must say, bold choice to release this one on St Patrick’s Day weekend, though.
