How to watch Chicken Nugget season 1 in Australia

You might have liked Squid Game, Space Sweepers, and even the Oscar-dominating Parasite, but a new series takes Korean screen culture into uncharted new territory: anthropomorphic convenience food.

When is Chicken Nugget season 1 being released in Australia?

Chicken Nugget season 1 is screening in Australia exclusively on Netflix from March 15.

What is Chicken Nugget season 1 about?

Okay, this is a weird one. An twelve-part series created by Lee Byeong-heon, who adapted the popular Naver webtoon of the same name, Chicken Nugget sees corporate head Choi Seon-man find himself presented with a remarkably unusual dilemma when an experimental machine created by his company, All Machines, accidentally turns his daughter, Choi Min-ah, into a chicken nugget. Not fatally, you understand—this is not The Jungle, Upton Sinclair’s seminal 1905 novel about the travails of the working class in Chicago’s meatpacking district. She can still talk, putting this firmly in zany fantasy comedy territory. And so, Seon-man teams up with lowly intern Baek-joong, who has a crush on Min-ah, to try and effect a cure. Hijinks, presumably wacky, ensue.

Ryu Seung-ryong is Choi Seon-man, Ahn Jae-hong is Baek-joong, Kim Yoo-jung is Choi Min-ah, and Jung Ho-yeon is Hong Cha, a food columnist who factors into events in some as yet unknown manner.

Why we’re excited about Chicken Nugget season 1

Sheer, jaded curiosity, that’s why! While the golden age of streaming is waning, we’re still getting hit with a veritable tsunami of “content” every day, and it takes something different to really ping on the old radar these days. This is a 12-part series about a woman who is transformed into a chicken nugget: we can honestly say that’s a new one.  Where are they gonna go with that? Does the concept have legs for 12 episodes? Does the nugget have legs, or do they sort of carry her around? We have to know.
